Fire truck and ambulance on public rails in Europe

For ambulances and fire trucks there is not unfamiliar with them. You can find these two specially-designed vehicles everywhere on the streets. If I were to say ambulance and fire truck together, you’ll be feeling quite new, surely? If I tell you not just that, but this vehicle is also a dual-use public railway model?

I just discovered that there’s an example in Europe that is a ambulance + fire truck.

“Tool” for battling fire in railroad tunnel

One could ask what’s the advantage of this type of model?

The main use of this model is the rescue of tunnels for railroads. We know that when the fire starts in the railroad tunnel is discovered, the difficulty in putting it out is very high. Ordinary ambulances and fire engines are nearly impossible to get through the tunnels of railway tracks, railroad tracks equipped with fire fighting equipment and typically only for the purpose of fighting fires, however, due to there is no rescue or transportation of injured people the injured, the dual-purpose fire truck and ambulance was created.

Three in one: “Firefighting + Rescue + Transfer”

You can clearly see in the picture, this vehicle is split into three parts. The roles performed by each are different. Front and back of train Mercedes-Benz Arocs 2624, and the two Mercedes Acros in the train are equipped with oxygen tanks. These are pressure vessels which can filter out gases that are contaminated from the external world.

Its front actually serves as an actual fire truck for combat with the primary responsibility to tackle fires. The front of the truck is equipped with an water tank that has the capacity of 5,000 liters. It is a huge amount of water to fight fires and rescue.

Car’s back like a firetruck The front of the automobile is able to accommodate up to 30 people.

The carriage at between the trains functions as an ambulance that performs emergency first-aid and transport of the injured role.

The train has an ambulance in the middle and can accommodate 30 passengers in the back.

If the tunnel in the train is damaged then the rescue train arrived upon the site, and the front of the train can be used as the primary fire truck for fighting operations, the middle part of the train is used as an ambulance for treatment of casualties and transfer, and the side of the train could be transformed into a new front of the train, with as an “ambulance” pulled out of the scene of fire and the front to carry on the firefighting operations. A train, rescue , and firefighting are both efficient and practical.

The power of the whole train is primarily derived from two Mercedes Arocs 2624, power could reach 620 kW. which can propel the train travel at speeds of 50 km/h which is enough to satisfy the requirements of the railway rescue.

It’s true that this type of train that is public rail likely to last for a long time and will not be used for a while, but in the event there is a fire incident within the tunnels of trains this type of train could be a life-saving option! I’m wondering when we’ll observe the first one operating in China!
